Clinical-needs-driven technological innovation to create value for patients and clinicians
Established in 2019, CAIR is one of the centres under Hong Kong Institute of Science & Innovation, Chinese Academy of Sciences and has been selected into the InnoHK Clusters. Centered around three key research areas: Multimodal AI Large Models, Embodied-AI Robotics, and Digital Twin Technology, CAIR has collaborated with top universities in the UK, Germany and other countries to establish joint laboratories and is equipped with a hybrid computing platform featuring Huawei NPUs and NVIDIA GPUs. It carries out AI system R&D and technology transfer, with a specialized focus on healthcare applications.
Capitalising on Hong Kong’s international strengths and the Greater Bay Area’s industrial resources, CAIR engages global top talents to develop multi-modal large models for diagnosis and surgery, digitalization and simulation of clinical treatment workflows, flexible surgical robots & physician-assisting systems, and real-time intraoperative imaging for neurosurgery. It advances full-chain R&D-clinic-industry integration to speed up clinical translation and boost high-quality healthcare development in the Greater Bay Area.
